Inspiration to turn something Ugly into something Beautiful
Today I got to sit back in bed and enjoy a wonderful gift my hubby did for me over the weekend.
We had this old electric fireplace that had seen better days, I'm sorry we didn't give thought to take a before picture but maybe by not doing so spares you and your eyes.
Over the weekend my hubby took it out from the basement and worked hard repairing some damage then sand and painted it. He then worked on the firebox and got it working again, sure is nice being married to an electronic engineer.
Below are some pictures of how it looks from our bed.
At a later time we will be hanging something on the wall above the fireplace and Love seat area plus I plan to make some drapes to frame the windows, there is one on each side of the Love seat, and there will be much more as time goes on but that's a good start for now.
Hope you all have a very creative day.

Inspiration from Autumn
Autumn is my favorite time of year, it has become the relief of a long hot summer, a time of many wonderful colors making their way through, for some a time the house becomes a bit quiet after school has started, but what I believe I like best about Autumn is the feeling the air has when taking that early morning walk, the sound of the crisp leaves blowing with a shuttle wind, the wonderful light the sun gives off at sun rise and how it just lights up the house with a great big smile.
Oh, and one more reason, I love to decorate the house.
You all have a wonderful Autumn day.

Inspiration for a Laundry room continued
So Sorry for the long delay, seems life decided to throw me a curve ball this past month but more on that at a later time, right now I would like to make a quick post before heading off to an appointment. See some pictures below on some of the progress of the laundry room
There will be more pictures later, we're not done yet but wanted to show what we've accomplished so far.
You all have a wonderful day.

Inspiration of a Home project.
I haven't yet posted the pantry project and I do plan to but thought I would give you a look at what sparked these changes that are taking place. It started with the laundry room we had which didn't leave much room outside of the washer and dryer and a few baskets, I had to sort the laundry in the hall outside the laundry room and although I know many have had to do the same but this house is to be our last and I do want some of the things from my wish list to be in this house and so it began with the laundry room.
This room was a walk in closet off the master but where you see the washer and dryer begin was just a wall, hubby punched out to take advantage of wasted space over the stairs and to clear head room for the stairs he craved out a little nook to the left where we will store seasonal decorations.
the above picture is of the west wall and above the washer and dryer will have open cabinets for laundry supplies.
south wall
south wall nook to store seasonal decorations
south wall that will have two wall units to store household supplies.
south east wall that will have hanging tools.
north wall that will have hanging ironing boards.
north wall next to dryer will have pull out drying rack.
This was a closet and we thought it would stay a closet with a washer and dryer but as the project took on life we felt it would be better served as a place to keep some household supplies as well as a roomy laundry room.
Hubby's handy work with trim work.
More of hubby's handy work.
Next post some of the changes we've made to the new laundry room.

Inspiration for a Pantry but first....
So sorry I've been MIA lately, it seemed if it wasn't one thing it was another that prevented me from posting. Part of the reason was hubby and I had been busy working on the Pantry then there were some delay's in some parts to the pantry, and so on. The parts have finally come in and this weekend we will try again at completing that project but first....
Cote de Texas
I've dreamed of having a cream and white bedroom for so long and hubby and I started talking about the idea of doing that... but then this morning I got reminded as to why we couldn't do this before.
Pup
This little very often sweet companion of mine decided to grab a tomato from the garden and quickly retreated to my bedroom and on the cream color rug had her way with it. Needless to say we won't be doing a cream and white room. Am I upset, not really I have plenty of other ideas to try and some of them are Pup friendly.
Hopefully after this weekend and if things go well I will have pictures to post of the pantry area, until then have a wonderful weekend and do something special with that someone special in your life.

Inspiration for a Pantry
houzz
Hubby and I are working on the Pantry. This picture got the whole idea started, we have this small room off the hall that use to be the laundry room and it was our intention to turn it into a storage closet and after seeing this picture the idea of how it was going to happen started to bloom. Hopefully this time next week I will have pictures of this project as it was being done and completed.

Inspiration for small space Doorways
Better Homes and Garden
It never fails when I'm in the hall bathroom putting clean towels away I get jabbed with the door knob because there is never enough space to turn around in there. A pocket door could be a good solution to this problem.

Inspiration for French Doors
Hooked on Houses
We have French doors very much like these in our master bedroom and I adore them but they don't leave much for privacy so when I saw how someone took drapery to not only frame the doors in a tasteful way but they also can do double duty by closing them for the sometimes needed privacy. Now only if there was away to keep nose prints off the glass panes from pups.

Inspiration for the Grandkids room
kidsomania.com
I have two granddaughters and sometimes they like to come for overnights, I have enjoyed some of those times and have given thought to how to make it memorable for them so when they have grown and look back they can tell their kids the great times they had at Nana's. Of course that will be many many years from now (LOL). I'm not sure we will do up a bunk bed like this, it would depend if we will have the space to keep it.

Inspiration for Something different
Cote de Texas
The colors in my home are mostly whites and soft pale colors because after years of living in a house that was shadow over by large trees that grew around it and trimmed in dark wood I was delighted to move into a home where it's light and airy. I still like having a light and airy feel to this home but wouldn't mind finding a corner somewhere to do something like this. It almost makes me feel like sitting down, crawling up with one of my granddaughters and reading a book.

Inspiration for more Closet Ideas
canyoncabinetry.com
If there is the room for it putting in cabinets would make for a clean cut look in a closet. I've got to find away to use this idea in my closet.

Inspiration for a Different kind of Headboard
I really like this idea because the picture rail allows one to change arrangements at a whim without making new wholes in the wall and without buying a new bed. The cute saying below it is adorable, wonder if any of my family would notice.

Inspiration for a Walk-In Closet
I don't claim to have this many clothes and shoes but it sure would be nice to have the closet to fit the imagination.

A beautiful and functional Kitchen
Ina Garten has it all figured out when it comes to kitchen design and functionality, I've always like the idea of a galley kitchen for the function and space saving, but usually didn't like the design problems that they restrict to. This kitchen has the best of both worlds. "How great is that."

Inspiration for a Living Room 2
I'm looking for ideas for each side of our fireplace which right now are pretty much blank walls. If we do something like this it would mean putting in windows and a little more light wouldn't be so bad.

Like this too with a hutch on each side of the fireplace and it would be a little less work then putting in windows.
This is very much the same idea as the one above.

Inspiration for a Laundry Room
We have near the finish of the Laundry closet and I'm thinking of having hubby put in cabinets above the washer and dryer to store away supplies. Like the TV idea in picture number two.

Inspiration for a dining room 2
Instead of buying a sideboard and hutch I'm thinking getting some cabinets that match the kitchen and use glass panels in the doors for the upper cabinets and base cabinets with wide draws then put in a wood counter top. Also like the idea of beadboard for the backsplash.

Inspiration for a Bathroom 3
The plan here is to have a master bathroom that would serve as a place to relax and wash away the stress of the day. I'm exploring ideas of how best to put in a TV and something that would give the feel of a fireplace. If we put in something like a book case then a small flat screen TV can be placed on a upper shelf and then put on the lower level something that could house flameless candles or fake fire logs with some kind of glow light to give the fell of a fire going.
Why don't I go with a gas log you may ask, my answer is my hubby he has made it clear not in the bathroom, he said he could live with the candles or the fake logs but not something that has an actual flame to it. Sometimes in a marriage one has to give a little in order to get allot.
